
"The West Virginians" "The West Virginians," a nationally recognized show choir from
Alderson-Broaddus College in Philippi, West Virginia, performed at Shuck
Memorial Baptist Church in Lewisburg, West Virginia.During their 24-year history, "The West Virginians" have given nearly 3200 performances throughout the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. In November 1997, "The West Virginians" represented the American Baptist Convention USA at the 125th Anniversary Celebration of the Nagaland Baptist Convention in India. They also toured the mission fields in Chiang Mai, Thailand. In addition to their live performances, "The West Virginians" have produced several television specials, a 30-minute video, and twelve full-length recordings. The dynamic group has also been designated "Official Ambassadors for the state of West Virginia."
In its twenty-fifth year, "The West Virginians" is under the direction of Mr. Jesse Tennyson. The members are selected each year by audition on the basis of their character and their multi-talented musical abilities. The present a great variety of sacred and secular music, appealing to all age groups in a variety of settings. They have made dramatic and memorable contributions to the spiritual life of hundreds of churches, while their secular performance have entertained thousands with a combination of dance, varied instrumentation, and humor. Not only do they perform Christian contemporary, rock, country, jazz, and Broadway styles, but the ensemble also doubles as a chamber choir, specializing in acapella sacred choral repertoire.
